    Wow...thirty years old !
Have you ever pruned them at all? Well if you ever do, just do not remove too much the first prune. Be strong and resist the temptation to get it over with quick.

Chuckle! Resist that urge! I can't tell you how many times I used those words with my children when they were growing up!

I have pruned them a bit, just removing obvious dead stuff. They have stopped producing but are also bring shaded out by trees behind them. I have been trying to eliminate those trees one by one.

Your blueberry care advice was great.

Yes it was, I will do some in the spring, like Cayuga I've only pruned out the dead twings but 2 of them did struggle this year, so I will cut out 1 stem of each plant if they don't flower.

Glad to hear you guys are going to try your hands at pruning your blues. If you can just get it right, you will be amazed at how they bounce-back. But do not forget that it may take a year, depending upon how severe your prune-back will be.
I have great confidence in you guys.

BTW Cayu. Your blues ought to still produce well in a shaded place because their natural habitat can be very shady. When we go hiking here the deepest woods have them all growing in almost complete shadow from the pine trees.

Chuckle...he gets nervous, does he. Why not teach him the principles of pruning and let him do it upon occasion. My Bride and I both prune, and she is totally competent at it.
