Remember this pic of the workers setting up the tree on our little, old square? Here is one I took last night with its lights ablaze.

I went a bit snap-happy and took some from various perspectives.
This first one is taken from the east, in the street leading to the Red Stone square. Although there are several ways to approach the square from our home, we chose this one because we knew it looked nice, and we wanted to walk home via the harbour.
Back in the 1700’s there were newspaper accounts where the police were called to disperse kids that were bombarding horses and carriages riding to and from the town centre with snowballs. I think back to my youth and recall how our little band of pleasure seekers would hurl snowballs at passing auto’s as the sun was setting. Every time one hit an auto we all cheered.

There are a lot of parked bikes over to the left, it is a biking culture here.

Here is a view taken in an alley facing the square. We were continuing our walk homeward, but turned to take one last look at the square.

In the harbour we could see the old harbour-tower standing as a sentinel overseeing us all. It looks like it is coming out of the roof of the little bridge-keeper’s hut, but it is actually further away.

Further along the path, where the boats are tied-up, we could see another perspective, looking back in the direction of the Red Stone square.

In normal years this is where Sinterklaas arrives with his boat from Spain, and ties-up for disembarkation along the quay there. Then he rides his horse in a parade through town.

A little closer view of the old ‘T’- shaped drawbridge with a nice reflection in the harbour water.

It was sunday evening, but even so, the most of the people were at home with the business lock-down in place. It was relaxing to be able to walk without having to constantly be watching out for careless folks.

Your town is as lovely in winter as it is in summer. The harbour tower is my favourite building. We have a miniature of it on a shelf in our livingroom.

I am tickled pink that you liked the foto’s Jane. You are most welcome.

Thanks Z & T. It is a small town, but nice to live in.

Fancy that!— what a place of honour. That tower is one of the symbols of our town. It wouldn’t be the same with out it. Another is a unicorn. Did you know that?

Yes, I did. It's on quite a few of the buildings in your town so nigh on impossible to miss that it's important there.
