We were kinda hoping for some fun and an unexpected holiday from work but....I had to tell B I am pretty sure we are in some sort of a Burmuda Triangle effect because we dodge so many storms that seem to swirl above and below us. It snowed a little while it rained, but the snow was coming up at us from the South which is weird. I made yeast rolls and beef sticks for entertainment. I got a nifty meat grinder attachment for the kitchenaid mixer. I foraged the freezer for old meats and popped out some bottom round to cure. That kitchenaid is pretty powerful. It ate the end off a wooden spoon I got too smart with poking bits down into the chute. Any day I get to use the jerky cannon is a good day!

Won't be long till our hamlet is a suburb of Aylesham After the houses they'll need supermarkets, multiplexes, schools, parking and a pond to fill with shopping trolleys
That's a shame and they wonder why all the wildlife is declining. Redditch is always expanding but they keep trying to close the local hospital and divert the patients to the Worcester royal where it's full and over flowing. The GP surgeries are the same, our local one had to merge with the one in town just to keep open. They say that there's not enough patients.
There are advantages to living in the second poorest county in Texas, with no prospect of improving soon. Nobody is trying to pave over, build on, or buy up our land. For the time being, we are safe. So many towns/small cities in Texas are selling out to developers, and adding 1500 housing "developments" without considering the needed infrastructure. Dripping Springs had to truck in water when they ran out, there was a fire in Belton the emptied the water tower and residents were without water for three days, sewers are old and deteriorating, and developers agree to put in roads, and then turn them over the city for maintenance. Perhaps we need less development, and more thought to the future. Meanwhile, our wild birds are feasting, the cats are lounging, and the hens are doing what hens do, which is mainly being very silly birds!
This little beauty looks good right now. I bought this Hellebore in a supermarket because it looked, well, droopy, like me. It has thanked me by blooming in winter and spring, and then again in autumn. Unfortunately I haven't got a name for her.
What a perfect flower! It's difficult to put names to these plants isn't it as there are so many hybrids. I daresay these are very well suited to your climate. It seems a shame that they hang their heads - they really should look upwards a bit more to show off their beauty better. Hope you get lots of lovely seedlings
First tree blooming. Way ahead of any other. I don't know the variety. Several years ago I grafted a stem from a flowering cherry I liked, onto a wild cherry seedling. This is the result.
