Beautiful! May is my favorite month just because we can observe the flowering of many plants, everything around is fresh green and fragrant
Some more. Cranberry Lilac. A nice purple one. An old Rhodie. This one was buried by a huge pine tree that I had removed for fire risk. Now it's rebounding. Not flowers but colorful Japanese Maples and a purple leaf Cotinus in the background. A Viburnum. We used to call these "Snowball Bushes".
More blooming beauties! That first one. Cranberry? Tell me more. That pink rhodi— how gorgeous is that! What a looker.
@Daniel W - Ditto to sjoerd. A high bush Cranberry? I've heard of but never seen. I have a snowball virbinum but really struggle with how to prune and care for it. It seems to have a different pruning opinion on every opinion. Mine do not get very large but do come back and bloom in the memory garden each year. I'd be very very open to any advice on it.
@Melody Mc. my highbush cranberry was an extra in an order. It has never borne fruit but the flowers are nice. The viburnum is the variety "Sterile". I don't do any pruning although I have dug up a few offshoots to propagate it. Deer don't touch it, I never water it, and nothing seems to bother it. It's huge. Must be 12 feet tall.
Daniel southwestern Wa. Beautiful iris. The mice squirrels got in my iris and ate most of them over the past few winters. Do have some new blooms.
One of my favourite wildflowers are blooming. The come up in the gardens first ( I don't mind them setting up shop there). Within a week or two the entire mountainside will bloom and smell like easter lillies for a couple of weeks.
A Mock Orange. Fragrant! A rose. Tamara. A rose. Playboy. A rose. The tag was lost with multiple transplantings.
