We have been having a three day snow event. -5 C with 40 km wind gusts. We're halfway through, and ploughed, snow blowed and shoveled today so that we can go to town tomorrow for apts. The contractor plough truck hasn't been on our road yet - we are pretty low on the list of snow removal as only a few folks winter out here and there is no school bus route. Hence...the big truck that we drive:) It will be a long day tomorrow, but hopefully then home for two weeks. :)

Mel good thing you can plough your road .. it not fun when the snow is so high you’re stuck in your own driveway. I’ve been there done that in a 4 wheel with scooper. good luck at your appointments.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -7°C and overcast.
Its Thursday again, so that means its shopping and errand day! I don't need much so it should be a fairly quick trip.
Finished all my skating club projects yesterday so I can catch up on my laundry today. The part I needed for my dryer came yesterday.
Have a great day all :)

Good morn to you Netty and to all who are around today.
It’s 20 degrees today , too cold for this ol gal to even open the front door. Just looking out the window makes me shiver. Wearing all my heat wraps today to stay warm. Still set on saving heating oil keeping thurmasstat down to 66. Yesterday v]got email from out power company I earned a total of 14 dollars last month by keeping Ng the thermostats in the green leaf on save energy mode. So now I thinking geez what can I by for 14 bucks maybe a couple dozen eggs?

Good Friday morning! -1°C, dry, and we'll have some sunshine later. The sun is a bit tired still and a late riser. We're slowly, slowly getting to the point where we can see before 08.00 in the morning and after 17.00 in the afternoon. Good times ahead! I'm helping a friend today, so two horses to muck out for, make feed, and exercise. Double joy! Good thing they only need a walk or else I'd probably fall asleep before the Friday film, lol. Wish you a fine Friday, all.

Good Friday morning all. Currently -25°C and sunny. There is also a strong wind making it feel closer to -35°C. Brrr!! In fact, it feels so cold that Sargent didn't want to go on his walk this morning! We got to the end of our long laneway and he was having no part of it and turned around to head home! It took me longer to get bundled up and un bundled then it did to walk haha Poor Sargent has been spoiled by our new woodstove and doesn't seem to like the cold as much this year.
Guess my plans aren't much today as I really don't want to go back out there either!
Have a great day all :)

I apologize deeply for the Arctic Air that we seem to have sent your way. I hope it doesn't linger - poor Sargent.

Droopy, we were just talking about what your length of day would be. Hubby believes Groundhog day here is the half way through winter day. We get dusky enough to not need a head lamp at 7:30 am now, and can see the sun setting at about 17:15. Your's will change very quickly now?

Netty, Sargent is a very smart dog. Follow his advice!
We are finally getting a break--the temperature didn't go below freezing last night, and right now we have 42 degrees! The power to the workshop and the barn is off. Calling the electric provider yesterday and again this morning hasn't "generated" any help. The neighbors down the hill have no electricity at all,so when we found out we gave them a standing invitation to come here to warm up and have a hot meal. I may get rid of some of that excess soup I've made!
The only problem we've had from the ice storm is downed tree limbs. No damage except to the trees. We will clear what we can, and then call our tree service guy to take care of the big stuff. Meanwhile, we will try to explain to our wild birds that they have fewer places to perch while eyeing the feeders.
    Spring cannot come soon enough!

Good grief, Jane! That was some bad weather you had.
What a good soul you are to offer warmth and food to your cold neighbours. That’s what neighbours do innit.
We say here, “A good neighbour is better than a distant friend”.
    You are such a pearl.

Today it was making chilli and shredding old documents…we have begun preparing the dutch taxes, then the u.s. will follow. It is a complicated annual headache that must be done. Time to get stuck in.

Good grief, @Netty, that's cold! I think Sargent is very sensible to not want to be outside in that.

@Melody Mc. Our day tomorrow will be 7 hours 46 minutes long. Sunrise at 08.56 and sunset at 16.42 The days just seem longer now as long as there's a little bit of snow on the ground and an almost full moon.

You have a big heart, @marlingardener, bless you!

I feel your pain, @Sjoerd - almost time for us to do the same here. *sigh*

@marlingardener - that is a truly wonderful thing to open your home. I'm so sorry to hear of the ice storms. They are so destructive. Your birds will be grateful for the feeders for sure, even if they have to find a new perch. Stay safe.

Saturday morning, and still no power to the workshop and barn. It's a minor inconvenience for us but it's the third day of no power for our neighbors. To top it off, we have fog! Husband and I talked it over and decided Mr. neighbor ought not to go into town to get coffee (wouldn't do any good since the entire town is without power for the third day, too.) I brewed up a pot and put it in two thermos and he cautiously went to their house with hot coffee and the assurance they would be getting hot soup at lunchtime, either here or there. We also got a "boil water" notice from the local water provider. It seems the water pressure was so low there is a danger of microbes and other nasties in the water. I swear, moving to Bangladesh is beginning to look better and better! If it weren't for the cat and hens, I'd be packing!
Sorry, but sometimes one just has had enough.

Stop, stop, ….STOP! Get a grip, Janie.
Look, you are not going to any Bangladesh to serve coffee and hot soup when you are not gardening.
No love, you are not going there, if you go anywhere you will come here. I will buy you an apt. In our building. There are perks for you here; however, the real perk would be for me. I wouldn’t say no to those big time restaurant meals you make, tea, coffee soup and cookies… all brought round.

Where do I send the prospectus?
