It was still a bit too cold to do anything outside so i potted up the lupin seedlings. Got 40 but i might lose some so i did a lot, they're in a heated tray. After i did those it started to get warmer outside but it was too late for me to do anything.

I think Mel said it just right, Daniel.
It really does look like all is going swimmingly.
I am excited for you and how things are progressing there.

Decided to buy some hebes from Waitrose on-line last night.
They were pricey, but they had a good selection. I have a Waitrose account, (that just means they occasionally send you money-off vouchers).

Buy Hebes: Delivery by Waitrose Garden

But the site wasn't having it.
It refused my credit card and then when I tried to use my Barclays debit card, despite using a "pin sentry" code as instructed, it still didn't want to know.
    So, "The moment passed."
Won't now buy them from Waitrose on principle.

I'm wondering if this was just a left-over page on the website and although it says they are available, they aren't.

"Crocus" have the same photos and the same prices on their website.

Might pop down to the local garden centre for a look-see, later.

Riley— can you phone this business for a clear answer. I would be interested to hear what they have to say.

I phoned them and a girl hung on at the other end whilst I went through the same nonsense again with the same result.

She did her best, but she wasn't able to help and couldn't take an order over the phone.

She said "I don't know what else we can do."

I told her not to worry about it, I'll get them somewhere else.

We just had a hint of frost first thing. Then it warmed up a bit during the day, still 5C at 7.30pm.
I actually gave the new troughs a third coat as they were still drawing in some of the paint, in places.

Went to the local garden centre, "for something to do," well..... To get some ideas for the centre bed if we can't find a mimosa. Maybe a lilac. A few people in, mostly buying pots and compost. Plenty of bedding plants, but little new stock.

An e-mail from Garden Plants on Line, resisting my request for a refund. Suggestions of, "do this, do that,"
I responded, having none of it. I told them it's lost more leaves and I'm not prepared to mess about with it.

Mimosas don’t even leaf out until June as weather warms 70’s. Your tree is doing what it naturally does. If you keep it watered I bet it will leaf out in June. .they are tough plants. No leaf’s doesn’t mean it’s a gonner. Even nurseries around here don’t have them in stock till May or June. Give it time another few months it will soon be buggin ya for a trim,

Thanks for that, but we had a mimosa for fifteen years, (I think I mentioned that earlier) which got killed in February, due to the extremely low temperatures. At the time, it was in full leaf. No offence, but I wasn't looking for advice.

Riley, do you think the girl was actually sitting in the business or sat in a call centre? If it was the former, then it is a reflection on the business and I do not think that I would use that business.
Businesses that use call centres … hmmmm. Perhaps this economic choice makes them suspect as well.

I hope that you can find the hebes.

Call centres are the bane of our lives. Our eldest son is a consultant engineer and he was involved in finding sites for call centres in Eastern Europe and India for an American major bank, thirty years ago.
Not only can companies pay the operatives less money, they can have four of them in the same space they'd only be allowed to have one in the UK.

Since Covid, many call centre employees work from home. If they've a problem they can't resolve, they call someone on another line for help, whilst you are kept hanging on.
I always wish, as well as all the other numbers they want you to press, there should be one for, "someone who can speak intelligible English."

It says quite clearly on the Waitrose web-site that they won't take telephone orders. On investigation, it's the same site as Crocus. That wouldn't take my order either. Yet, I had no problem paying for some Wet n Forget on eBay on Monday with my credit card..
I'm pretty sure the dearth of any selection of hebes elsewhere, there's presently no stock, so they can't deliver within three days as the site says.
I'm not that bothered at the moment, I can find other stuff to do.
