Just hoping the village ducks don't destroy all the spawn again this year, and the tadpoles get half a chance.
We used to loads of frog spawn every year and it would develop unhindered so that we had frogs leaping about in the pond and in the garden. Sadly now we seem to have nothing but newts. I miss the hearing and seeing the frogs.
I am so surprised to see that. Gad— I can’t imagine when our frogs will be out of their sleep, let alone mating. Fingers crossed for tadpole survival.

Droopy, we found that you only need to dig a small pond - even puddle sized to encourage them to find you. It might be worth having a go
I covered the pond with all sorts of stuff today. 3 Elm poles, with 2 iron rods over them at right angles, then various bits of mesh fencing. That should keep the ducks out and give the tadpoles a chance
Zigs what a good idea to use fencing to cover the pond. I have a blue herring that likes to get my fish… I covered the pond with greenhouse shade cloth, but I like your idea better.
I have never seen frogs so big before! Mine are just little guys, and occasional toad the size of my palm. This is really great Zigs.
This place has always been blessed with an abundance of frogs. They like to live in the longer grass which is left especially for them. When the tiddly ones emerge it can be difficult not to step on them - they get everywhere!
Here we have the rattlesnake on the high ground and the copperhead in the creeks and wetter areas. They are very fond of frogs. Where there is any abundance of the little amphibians it is appropriate to pay attention. I think someone from Louisiana could award @Zigs an honorary Cajun membership based the soundtrack alone.
The sound is incredible. Is it loud Zigs and Tetters? Like sing you to sleep loud or keep you up loud?
