welllll....we negotiated one final patch job. Put a note on the fridge - a sworn testimant- witnessed by Angus - this would be the last one.
Great story! I get attached to mine too. But it's me who sews them. Now mine are cargo types that I have to buy on Amazon because they don't make that type here. They don't last as long as the big name ones, but are more comfortable. The cargo pockets get used. I sew on suspender buttons, needed with my current body shape now. Mel, maybe you could make a wall hanging out of them? Cut into a square and frame them? That way, they'll always be there! Artistic! Or a scare crow?
Melody my hubby is the same, i have to always patch his jeans, i have to undo the side seam to get at it. If the material goes at the edge of the pocket and the zip part i say that's enough.
oooooo....I like it! I just retired our scarecrow last summer. The crows were digging up my squash seeds, and the scarecrow actually worked. That sounds very fitting - and there is so much speed sew in the pants that they will surely last a decade out in the elements. ( perhpas I shouldn't have said that they may last that long....Hubby may read this one day. He'd strip the scarecrow of what is rightfully his )
I'm afraid that, if I used my old jeans on a scarecrow, folks would stop by with donations for me to buy new jeans.
That sounds like a good plan. If I thought a scarecrow would motivate my neighbors to buy me new jeans, I'd do it

Daniel, you beat me to the Jeans Planter. The first time I saw jeans used as a planter was in 2015 in Brugge, Belgium. We were invited to a plant exhibition when we were there, this exhibit attracted lots of interest.
Ohhhh this is giving Hubby and I such a laugh. We are both scheming now. Photos will come this summer.
