What have you done today in the Garden?

Logan lupines are fantastic in the spring garden. I have the Russel-lupines and they tend to reseed in the green.
So many colors and lovely to watch the bees search thru each section poppin thru the flowers.

 

Thank you Sjoerd, yes it's a lot of lupins, don't know where to put them. The pots are about 3 or 4 inc. I will pot them up again later when needed,i don't know the colour i got the seeds from my plants, but they could be blue as they revert to the natural colour.

 

Yes that's why i like them but the plants don't last long sometimes. Lost 2 to the lupin aphid.

 

Bummer lupin aphids they can be a pest here too. I use a puffer or make one with a paper bag with holes and add DE-diatomaceous earth, push the puffer and the DE is lightly expressed over the plant. Or just a squirt of water which is not all that useful on young seedlings.

 

I have only one Lupin. Normally I just admire the flowers and never look closely, as I have never had problems with them. I shall look closely a few times this season, juuuuuuust to be sure. Ta for the posting, Loggie.

 

I up-potted most of the peppers from 1-inch cells to 4-inch pots. Most are tiny. I think the up-potting and new soil will help.





The snowpeas and sweetpeas spent the day outside.

I set up another LED fixture for the seedlings.



Tomato seedlings need thinning soon.

 

I am liking what I am seeing there, Daniel. You are ahead of me. It is so inspiring to see your set-up and progress. It makes me think my time is right around the corner.

 

Thank you Pacnorwest, but water doesn't work and I've tried washing up liquid in water but that doesn't work. I made a mistake by cutting them right down when they had finished flowering, they grew back with lovely soft foliage that the aphids loved and it killed the plants.

Sjoerd you will know when you get them, they're bigger than the others and your welcome.

Daniel everything is looking good, I've still got to do my tomatoes.

Aren’t they lovely. That sort of thing is always exciting to see.

 

@Pacnorwest - that's a great idea with the paper bag for diatomaceous earth. I've been using a generic container for condiments, like ketchup and oils etc. It's...meh. It does work but I get a big blurp quite often. Flea beatles and springtails will take out all of my new seed sprouts if I dont lament them with diatoaceous earth for a couple of weeks in the late spring early summer.

Do you poke many holes? How big are they Pac?

 

Today was a big potting up day. The peppers were very much in need of a 1 gallon pot. This will be their second pot on. I started my Echinacea the same time as yours @Daniel W ....ermmmmm...oops. I'm atleast a six weeks away from planting - maybe longer. The two I started early are now in 1 gallon pots. They will be pretty big and ready to escape their pot by planting time.



The sweet marjoram and thyme needed new accomodation. Also the Sea Holly, Pansies, Cupid's Dart, and Gazania's. One of the basil plants also had their application accepted for a larger condo.









I packed everyone down to enjoy the inside of the greenhouse. I can't access the walkway from the greenhouse to the closest door, so it is a wheel barrow ride for everyone down the back driveway and across the yard.

And the spinach and lettuce is up. One of the pots of lettuce is black seeded simpson and will be kept for seed once we are done munching on most of it.

 

Really exciting posting today. Not only that but entertaining language. I can tell that you are in a good mood.

Too wet to do anything today..or tomorrow.. But Sunday looks like it should be fine, so I will be able to finish the pagoda and maybe make a start on the "weather side" side of the tea-house.
All it will need is a light rub down, as the paint I use adheres well to previous coats and never flakes.
