Ahh—you guys are really considerate of your chooks. Any friend of chickens is a friend of mine. tonight we had buttery cheese noodles, cauliflower and a slab of cod.
I discovered that the "Mexican" bean, rice, and cheese casserole makes a very tasty bean burrito. Roll it up (after heating) in freshly grilled tortillas along with lettuce, chopped onion, and salsa. The casserole is great as is, and the burritos are the icing on the cake.
Ours get all sorts of left-overs. They love pumpkin! Also the bones left from the rotisserie chicken that I slice up and dehydrate to make doggie jerky treats. The literally eat every bone! And eggshells. They fight over them. Makes me kind of uneasy, like they are cannibals, but they don't have such inhibitions.
I saw mine catch a mouse once They were all going after it, running in the same direction......like a group of little kids chasing a soccer ball. The victor caught the prize and gobbled it up. They were very entertained. @marlingardener @Daniel W ....maybe you guys should make merry-go-rounds for them from a bike wheel
Bacon. I do not know how that happened. She had Bacon Lettuce and Tomato Sandwiches and I was going too also, but... Bacon.
We have two pieces of cod left in the freezer from last year, so tonight is Beer Batter Cod, Hubby's crazy good Tartar Sauce, and coleslaw.
Young steamed asparagus, beef tenderloin seared in a cast iron and finished with the baked potatoes at 400f. Strawberry short cake for dessert. She did not make the strawberries.
We are having pork medallions in a red wine sauce, green beans, and home made bread rolls. Just a light dinner!
Stuffed pork chops, sweet tater crumbles and coleslaw with pineapple and raisins. And Strawberry short cake.
Tourtieire Pie with pickled beets for Hubby tonight. Rainbow trout and salad for myself. ( I do miss pie crust)
Logan that made my eyes pop out and race to Google. hahaha That looks really good! Would you mind sharing your recipe?
I'll be glad to, it's just a ordinary batter with 8oz of self raising flour and 1pint of milk and 3 or 4 large eggs. 3 cooked sausages and a 10in round tin. I use a Victoria sponge tin. The same batter is for Yorkshire puddings so i do both at the same time in the same tin. Put the oven on and heat up the sausages in the tin with a tablespoon of oil for a few minutes in a pre heated oven at 200c.in a electric oven. Then pour in the batter and put it back in the oven, have to adjust the position of the sausage so that they're equally apart and at the edge of the tin on one side. Cook for about 20 minutes or until the batter is brown, it's best to have the eggs and milk at room temperature so the batter will rise well.
