That's a nice looking plant Zigs. I didn't know that old seed would germinate and then not thrive. Thanks for sharing that. I always thought old seed didn't germinate. I wonder if that's what happened to my banana peppers last year....... I thought I'd killed them but couldn't figure out how. I bought new seed because I had none left. This year they are great. hmmmmm
Ta Mel It was only the Romas that didn't do well, a lot of the others here were saved seed too so not sure if it was the seed or something in the compost in that particular pot?
The soil is always too acid here due to all the acid rain we get 200” in the coastal Pacific Northwest . I always put down the power lime to raise the PH to 6.0-6.5 , after that I end up lookin like the Pillsbury dough Boy… there is also granulated form of lime I like the powder it breaks down in the soil faster.
