    I
It gives me the willies just thinking about those mandolin injuries... I hope the gloves help.

I do slice onions with mine. I've hit the glove on the blade a couple of times - being accident - prone - and just think, wow, glad I had that glove on! During my mis-spent youth, I once sliced my thumb to the bone while slicing a bagel.

Yesterday I dug the rest of the garlic.

If I plant bush beans right away after digging garlic, I get a full crop by fall. I planted half of the bed today. Contender and something Burpee, can't tell the difference.

    IMG_3546.jpeg

This Spring, only a few epazote seeds germinated, but enough to get a taste. They are still in a container.

    IMG_3476.jpeg

That Hardy Kiwi that bought this Spring, and turned out to be a tiny, squiggly, dried out looking stick, looks better now. I think it needs TLC for another year before planting somewhere.

    IMG_3447.jpeg

Celosia might bloom in a few weeks. I've never grown it before. The leaves look nice.

    IMG_3474.jpeg

Amaranthus has nice leaves. I THINK this is the variety, "Dreadlocks" but Im not certain.

    IMG_3496.jpeg

Brugmansia has started blooming. So fragrant.

    IMG_3491.jpeg

    There's a blurry hummingbird there.

    IMG_3492.jpeg

I did a lot more weed cutting with the weed whacker Learned how to reload the string. Cutting the weeds keeps the neighbors less annoyed.

There was more but I don't want to over-do the picture posting. It wasn't a bad day at all.

    Super posting, Daniel.
Ahh— Amaranthus. I haven’t grown that for quite a while. You know, I think that it is related the Epazote.

What a bonus seeing that tiny hummingbird…but your Brugmansia is nothing less than gorgeous. You must be well chuffed with hat beauty.

The garlics look tasty. i can’t tell if they have cloves or are just a solid ball, as it were.

Good luck with your beans, mate. There ought to be time for those to yield. I planted some as well, and have hopes. I put a clip on one of them yesterday—so they are coming along. One came up and was immediately destroyed by something.

Ach, it is such a joy to see your postings.

Tomorrow I will make a tomato pie. Most of these are the heirloom very dwarf variety, "Extreme Bush". The smaller squashes will be breakfast. Not sure about the big zuke. Maybe shred for the hens to enjoy.

@Daniel W - beautiful harvest. The hens will love you for that. I hope you show pictures of your delicious pie again.

Oh...and this happened. :) :) :) So glad it bloomed the first year.

This is my happy little memory garden for Angus' brother. Everything I started from seed is blooming, and the bees and butterflies are loving it.

    Your flower garden is perfect!

That's awesome, you have blooming echinacea blooming the first year from seed! I'm sure it was the early start. Such a beautiful flower.

It's possible that one of my hybrid echinacea will bloom this summer. I'm curious what it will look like. The mix is called Cheyenne Spirit.

You have borage, poppies, bachelor buttons... the bees must be happy!

Lovely harvest, Daniel. I wouldn’t count that large courgette ou just yet thought. You can cut in half lengthways, hollow it out somewhat and then fill it back up with a ground beef-based mixture and chuck it in the oven… cheese over the top to melt, just before removing. It is heaven in a green skin.

Mel—Your flowers are so lovely to look at. They turned out quite nicely. The cone flower my Bride especially likes. We have two plants here.

Today was an early morning raspberry pick...for three hours. Five ice cream pails were the result. Nom nom nom. Raspberry Jelly will be made soon.

The irrigation was pulled up from the lawns yesterday to cut the grass. It was very overdue because of the heat - it was left to grow. But now the clover is going to seed so it must be cut for fire mitigation. Then the hoses will be laid back down, and the onions, leeks, squash, zucchini, raspberries, blueberries, haskap berries, strawberries, peas and corn will be watered. We're hoping for rain this evening, but I can't put off the deep watering any longer. Busy day :)

@Melody Mc. I think it's five years old but maybe four.
Here's that one from a little more distance.
    IMG_3563.jpeg
They seem to like it here, although slugs can be an issue.
    I dug some more spuds.
    IMG_3582.jpeg
So far the red ones are good size. The white or brown ones are smaller. When they were first growing, I couldn't keep up with their care.
    IMG_3583.jpeg
The onions are looking pretty good so far.
    IMG_3575.jpeg
    IMG_3579.jpeg
I prefer onions not be too big. I think medium size ones keep longer.
So far, it's a good summer.
