It's warm and sunny, I've got to go for my flu jab in a bit, then after lunch I can't avoid doing a bit in the garden, mostly clearing leaves, then I've my golf gear to clean ready for Monday.

Good Sunday morning all. Currently just 7°C and overcast. Rain is in the forecast, and thats ok with me. We need the rain and I need to clean my house haha
I'm on the internet looking for a soy, gluten and dairy free pumpkin dessert recipe to make for the grandkids. The turkey goes into the oven in a few hours and I can't wait to spend the day with the family! Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadians here!

Good Monday morning all. Currently just 7°C and raining. It finally feels like a fall day!
We had a fabulous visit and dinner last night and then I had a great sleep! Took the dog for a walk in the rain this morning, and now we are home by the fire.
Not sure my plans today, I'm going to clean house until something interesting pops up haha
Have a great day all :)

Netty, your Thanksgiving sounds wonderful, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it and then slept the sleep of the successful hostess.
We have fall weather, too. Woke up to 54 degrees, and the prediction is to be only in the low 80's for the day. Timi is spending the night inside, at the foot of the bed. She is a Texas cat, and although she has a fur coat she still doesn't like chilly/cold weather.
Baking apple nut bread today--starting to check off my list of baked treats for Christmas gifts. Thank heavens I still have a bit of space in the freezer!

Today is the last for Food Bank delivery's. After that it was apple sauce making, laundry and making apple flaps for by the tea. The applesauce is still going. I must get back to that.

Great minds run on the same track! I made applesauce today, too. It's a misty, cloudy day, so little outside work.
Husband finished repairing the generator. It needed a new carburetor which he installed and now has it running smoothly. We will need a generator this winter since our electric service is not reliable. We are also experiencing a "water event" with low pressure. We still have water, thank heavens. Living in Texas is not for the faint of heart!
Hope you all have a good day!

It should have been a golf day today, but I didn't fancy playing in the rain. Wednesday was a competition day, We book tee-times in threes. The tee-sheet for the day is always filled between 8.00 am and 2.00pm by the day of the competition.
So it isn't fair on those who can't play between those times, not to play, if you've booked, regardless of the weather, if the course is open.
But Mondays and Fridays, we have a "roll up" so whoever turns up gets split into teams, for a friendly competition.
I had an e-mail this morning to tell me the course was open, but buggies were banned.
On Wednesday, buggies were allowed but had to stay in the rough as they would damage the fairways due to the wet ground.
So it must be pretty bad today.
Most of us have electric trolleys like mine. These have a 30v lithium battery. Some come with GPS, which will tell you how far you are from the next pin. But mine hasn't, it's more useful for other courses you play, I rarely do, so I don't find it necessary.

Today I dug out my "winter wheels."

They are excellent in this weather as they don't slip when going up the many inclines. The regular wheels have no tread to speak of. The problem is that they are hard to clean after playing before the trolley goes into the boot of my car.
The club does have an air line, so you can clean your trolley wheels and shoes after playing. But it isn't always working as the green staff sometimes forget to drain the water out of the compressor's cylinder. Then you have to take them home muddy and need a bucket of water to steep them in to get all the mud off.

My golf stuff from Wednesday has just about dried out.

I have three pairs of regular golf shoes, so they all get a minimum of a week to dry out.
I put a rack for them, in what was "the coal cupboard" in the side of the house. It intrudes into the cupboard under the stairs and the tumble dryer sits on the concrete slab above it, so the heat from it help the shoes to dry out.

I've just received the winter golf boots I ordered. There will be days when I will need them.
They are excellent and came with a free pair of golf socks!

We have a standing joke when we're playing when it's cold and wet. "Those people working in dry, central heated offices, don't know when they are well off!"

I liked reading this thread, Riley because your’s is a world in which I have no experience. Oké, it wasn’t a gardening subject but my complete ignorance made it quite interesting to me.
    Cheers.

Good Friday afternoon all. Currently 12°C and overcast. It was a nice day for working outside.
Home now, dog has been walked and dinner has been made. We are off shortly to the rink. I can't wait to sit down!
Have a great night all :)

I've been looking at improvements to the second bathroom. It needs to be much more senior (me) friendly. I'm not enthusiastic about contractors but I doing it myself this time is not an option. It needs a bathtub that is easier to get into and out of, but still good for soaking (not a sitting tub) and maybe raised on a platform, higher sink (maybe a bowl sink), brighter lights, brighter walls, warmer. So it looks like a total change.

The kitchen needs a lighter floor too. That may not happen until next summer. It's too dark now.

    We've only a small bathroom.

I installed a new bath and built the cabinet 25 years ago, after I took early retirement, (something to do)..

But about twelve years ago, due to my wife's MS she was having increasing difficulty getting in and out of the bath, we opted for a walk in shower instead. I bought the shower on-line, it's a well known make, "Lakes" and she chose the units. I had some spare and also managed to get a few extra tiles to go where the bath had been, fortunately exactly the same shade from "Topps" (they scoured different branches to find them). I also had some spare laminate for the floor. I got a local plumber to rip out everything and fit the lot for about £500.

This is working out OK at the moment, there's always the possibility of adding a handrail and seat for her if that becomes necessary.

Good Saturday to you all! We have the annular eclipse, aka "ring of fire". We are not in the area for the complete ring, but we do have the moon covering part of the sun. Husband is out photographing the stages of the eclipse, which will be posted later. He is practicing lens settings and angles for next April's eclipse, which we are in the direct path to see.
I took a peek at the moon/sun with our solar viewing glasses. Gosh, those glasses are dark!
Other than watering the newly planted garlic, and trying to convince the cat that the partial eclipse is not the end of the world, nothing much going on here.

Somehow, my cellphone photographed a reflection in the glass, while the eclipse itself was just a hazy glow. It was overcast, and of course I did not look at it, I just looked at the cellphone screen.
