Good Sunday morning all. Currently 1°C and foggy.
It was a very peaceful dog walk, not a noise except our footsteps.
Back home now to have a coffee and then make some pumpkin tarts for Christmas Eve dessert. Its going to be another busy day, followed by a lovely family dinner.
    Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Christmas all! Currently 2°C and overcast with fog.
I was up at 7, and I've had my dog walk and my breakfast and I'm working on a cup of coffee.
Sargent is pacing as hes found his gift under the tree and he's not allowed to open it until the kids get up. If they aren't up by 8:30 I'll take Sargent upstairs and let him wake them up.
I always look forward to the happiness that I see on Christmas morning when kids open their gifts, its something that doesn't get old. And today we get to go to see the grandkids open their gifts so its twice the fun! Feeling blessed :smt060
    Have an amazing day everyone!

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 2°C and overcast. We still have some lingering fog from the last few warmer days.
We had a lovely Christmas, opening our gifts (after we had to wake up the kids) and then heading to see the grandkids. We had a fabulous late lunch there and then home for a nice early night. Today it's clean up day!
Have a great day all :)

Netty, your Christmas sounds lovely, and I'm so glad you enjoyed every minute of it!
Our Christmas was lovely also. We had a very light lunch, listened to carols, and prepared Christmas dinner together. After stuffing ourselves, we watched We're No Angels, and then turned in. Not an exciting day, but peaceful, happy, and full filling (pun intended).

Good Friday morning all. Currently 4°C and raining.
We had a lovely Christmas yesterday with the grandkids. This was the last of 5 for them, having already had 2 with extended family on their Dads side, one with extended family on their Moms side, one at home on Christmas and one with us here. Their parents are going to have to put an extension on their new house for all the gifts they got! WOW!
We are getting ready to head to the rink this morning - its been 6 days since DD was on the ice. She has a competition mid January so she had better get back to it!
Have a great day all :)

Good Saturday morning all. Currently -3°C and overcast.
It poured rain all day yesterday. We have a huge amount of water pooling at the bottom of our property, and if it freezes I'll have one happy skater!
I've got 2 huge pots of chick peas soaking in water, and I'll be canning them up today. I eat lots of chick peas, so I like to have a big canning day every so often and fill my pantry shelf with ready to go jars. That will be my excitement today, but first my coffee and Gardenstew time!
Have a great day all :)

Good Sunday morning all. Currently -3°C and overcast. I was really hoping for a sunny day for the last day of 2023, but apparently I'll get snow instead.
Not a lot going on today. I'll head to the arena and take down our Christmas tree today, and then a quick trip to the store. New years eve is just another night to me, and I'll probably be asleep long before midnight. I look forward to 2024 and all the exciting things a new year can bring!
Have a great day all, and Happy New Year!

Here's my bathroom remodel update. I have pretty much emptied out the old bathroom, and moved daily needs to a different bathroom.

At the same time as that bathroom gets its new window, so are a bedroom (my "man cave" will be less of a cave) and another bathroom. I have done some furniture moving. To make room for a better sewing table / desk, I took the old one to good will. I think I liked the idea of that one, but the replacement, table I refinished ten years ago, has more legroom and better function.

The bathtub, which I ordered from Lowes here in Washington State, because the order from another company was cancelled twice, did not arrive as scheduled on friday. After a number of calls and an automated telephone system meticulously designed to be the electronic equivalent of finding King Tut's tomb, I reached someone who sounded biological instead of electronic. She told me the tub isn't in town yet, and provided a routing number. It turned out that the tub was being shipped from Miami!

Now I can watch as my bathtub travels across America, sort of a bathtub version of Steinbeck's "Travels With Charlie".

I guess shipping from Miami is no worse than shipping from China!

Happy 1st day of 2024 all! Its currently -5°C and overcast.
I slept right past midnight and woke up at 6am this morning! We had a lovely dog walk, it was SO peaceful. Not a creature was stirring anywhere!
After my coffee, I think I'll start taking down the Christmas decorations. I'll leave the tree up for a few more days because DD loves to sit and look at it at night and it makes her happy. But everything else is coming down. And this week I'll start my New Years cleaning.
Have a great day all :)

Good Morning and Happy New Year! It has been a whirl wind two weeks here, with my youngest daughter coming for a week, and then our oldest son coming surprisingly for three days. He just left last night. I stayed off of the internet so that our data and system could be used by the younger more attached to their phones crowd. :) Plus I was in the kitchen a lot. We have had extremely warm weather with almost all of the snow gone. This will change within the week. The last two days had an inversion which created dense fog, combined with smoke from a slash burn pile. We couldn't even see across the yard, and had no internet for the better part of two days. Thankfully it blew out and lifted last night.

Some exciting gifties I recieved were a Doggy DNA test for old Angus ( I'm very excited about this), as well as a large bottle of pure vanilla extract brought back by my son from Mexico. I think that will be for his cookies for the next ten years. hahaha. And....(drumroll please...) some root trainer pots!! Very similar to yours @Sjoerd. They had to be ordered in from the UK so they are worth their weight in gold, but it was very thoughtful.

Today is a home care day before a big town day tomorrow. I must say we are blessed to have kids come and visit....and blessed to now have a nice quiet house. I hope to catch up on some Stew today, and some emails as well. I missed everyone over the busy season. :)
