Oh Pac, I can't wait to get my nails done!
Today is sunny, and predicted high of 70 degrees--I may get that French manicure soon!
Just another dull day on the farm, a little laundry, a little cooking, a little cleaning and tidying, and a LOT of cat petting.
Hoping you all have a nice uneventful day.We all deserve one once in a while!

Good Monday morning all. Currently 1°C and overcast.
I had a nice, uneventful day yesterday. Today I've got lots of chores to catch up on. Laundry, dusting and vacuuming (which also sounds uneventful)
Ive got some bananas to turn into banana bread, and for some excitement I'll throw in some choc chips.
Wow, I've turned boring! Come on spring!!

Great hand shot, Pac. You are immediately awarded the “Real Gardener” certificate. Well done!

I could go for some banana bread with dots of choccy.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -1°C and overcast.
Yesterday turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. Amazing how the mood changes when the sun is shining! I spent some time outside, soaking up some vitamin D.
Not sure what my plans are today ... going to finish my cup of tea and decide.
Have a great day all :)

I learned a new word with an absolutely fantastic philosophy.

    Friluftsliv - ( Free-looft-sleeve ) - ‘Free Air Life’
Is a Nordic concept that emphasis the importance of being outdoors and find something that you love every season. This tradition means spending time outside with the trees instead of avoiding the cold and darkness .

This time of year it is important to have houseplants which are definitely a mood enhancer. Houseplants have a much better option than outside plants in winter than trees . Now we have another reason for plant addiction inside which in so many cases seasoned gardeners or newbies can have their choice of indoor plants to collect. There are so many new plants and dozens of varieties to choose from.

Here we are in the golden age of plant breeding which has started a whole new revolution of plant breeding and plant collecting. Just like it was years ago when houseplants were part of the home decor. I remember hand made macremae hangers to hold plants hanging everywhere from ceilings. Different styles of pots crafted for any home application. That time has come back, especially since Covid which served as a surge and new interest in houseplants. Combined with the golden age of plant breeders today, there are so many different varieties of one type of plant to start collections . Many breeders have been concentrating on colorful and variegated foliage adding color with contrasting flowers in every size with easy care .

More house plants are flooding the super markets more than ever before to reach new buyers, with the message you don’t need a green thumb to grow many different house plant's. These are the bonding aspects with plants creating a positive outlet for the winter blues.

House plants are important family members over here. Haha.
Most of the folks I know have several house plants. They are indeed a delightful decoration for one’s home. I agree that one can get lots of benefit from these green companions.
That is an interesting nordic term you have found. I have not heard that before.
I like postings with new things.

@Pacnorwest a number of my houseplants are overwintering pelargoniums, plus those Schlumbergeras. Im always tempted in the store, but need to avoid buying too many.

Here is the bathroom remodel as of today.

    IMG_5320.jpeg

Next, the walks need a new layer of skim coat, then the toilet and sink/vanity. Then some this and that.

I will paint either after the vanity is installed, or before. I prefer before but the contractor may not give me a chance.

Like the tile and handy walk in.. nice. The new window.. cool…That is a huge difference and looks twice the size than before. Amazing what an update and window adds to a room.
Sorry …but…Are you planning on updating the ceiling fixture? Just a little..?

Your houseplants are beautiful from what pics I have seen. U have lovely plants to over winter and collect.

The ceiling should get a flat skim coat, same as the walls. Im never quite sure what this contractor will do but that is my understanding.

Edit : Sorry Pac, I misread.

Yes, new light fixture and new exhaust fan.

Good Friday morning all. Currently -4°C and mostly cloudy.
Its been a busy week, but we've finally made it to Friday!
I've been fighting off a cold all week, and have been continuing my regular schedule of dog walks and outside time - I think it really helps! I am stuffy but otherwise fine. Hubby on the other hand, who was the one that brought this sickness home, has been down for days and has been incredibly grumpy. I had forgotten how bad 'man colds' can be.
I've been watching the tracking of my seed order, which shipped from Utah on January 20th. This morning my seeds are in Los Angeles CA! I guess my seeds are taking the scenic route to me here in Southern Ontario!
Have a great day all :)

Cloudy and rain currently 41 F - 5 C. The old ground hog claims there will be an early spring.

Today I celebrated National Tater Tots day by having a bowl of tater tots!

    https://nationaltoday.com/national-tater-tot-day/

    It's my favorite holiday.

I also tidied the pantry a bit. I think GoodWill is going to get some items. I really don't need three rice cookers, three mixers, and several sets of Corelle table ware.
