    Looking good @Daniel W and @Doghouse Riley.
Hubby has finished pruning the roses, I've sown cosmos, pot marigolds and polyanthus seeds. The cosmos is coming up but I'm not sure about the polyanthus seeds they might be to old.

Daniel— the plants have perennials in them. I planted some gifted Camassias in two plots.

Your seedlings look soooo good. The plant pots look really smart. The “hold water” remark did not escape me. ;)

Sjoerd So Sorry I miss this earlier…and since you love tree you can join Danial and I we are Dendrophile’s - definition someone who loves trees…. Hehe..

See pic of just one fave tree out of 12 that were scalped. It will never look balanced I am heartbroken. I grew it from a tiny seedling. 30 years of caring for my trees. This tree is topped totally unnecessary.

Thank you for your kind concern I appreciate your support.
It’s been 2 years and the scars and off balance look on the trees will last forever. Pic of my fav tree before and after the wack job…Also imaging one entire side of a 3 paper birch trees totally missing and so lopsided and scary will fall over in a storm.

Thank you may have to put a gate in now.. But generally never had any issues with them coming on private property before in 30 years , they usually cut under the pole elec lines across the street.

After they topped and cut branches from my fav tree and rare to find.note the stripe bark.striped maple tri color leaf.

Before the tree was scalped. Left of the pic. You can see it is a small understory tree. See the one wire at the top, it was 10 feet away. IMG_0546.jpeg

    the tri color spotted leaves

    Closeup striped bark. Maple
tri color leaf striped bark. Beautiful colors… and rarest tree in my collection. IMG_6989.jpeg

I'm up to date with everything at the moment. Being a "garden manager" rather than a gardener, I don't have to supervise my work force (me), with any jobs, as I don't do any propagation. Saves a lot of time and effort.
It's been raining, but it's stopped now. But more is forecast for later today and tomorrow. So I'll just flick between golf and football on the TV until the tennis comes on this evening. It's too cold to be outside today.

Darcy Bussell came to my house today. So did Silas Marner. I welcomed them as new friends. And Boscobel and Bring Me Sunshine.

    IMG_5578.jpeg

With a minor amount of root pruning, a little soaking, and after mixing a small amount of my "special recipe" additives to the potting soil (a little crushed eggshell, a little crushed bonemeal, and some meal made from roasted, finely ground and hot water processed seeds of the Coffea arabica plant), I planted three of them. I ran out of potting soil, so Boscobel will have to wait a day. It's in a temporary container of the same soil.

Silas Marner was planted in a half barrel that I prepared over the winter.

    IMG_5586.jpeg

Not far from this one is Vanessa Bell, that I planted last Spring. She's looking good.

    IMG_5587.jpeg

Darcey Bussell and Bring Me Sunshine are in two of the new planters.

    IMG_5590.jpeg

It's a nice day for planting roses. Rainy and drizzly and over cast. I think their new growth won't get any sunburn.

Those planters will be on wheels for easy moving.

Meanwhile, the climbing rose "Tropical Lightening" has lots of new growth. I still haven't built a trellis.

    IMG_5580.jpeg

The old rose cuttings - unknown variety, very double pink, old rose scent, and very thorny - show they survived the winter, a good sign.

    IMG_5581.jpeg

Also cuttings from a red rose from the old place.

    IMG_5584.jpeg

And the thornless blackberry cuttings are still alive.

    IMG_5582.jpeg

I can't promise they will all grow, but so far, so good. Those cuttings are just the "cut to good size and push into soil in late fall" method, so no big deal.

Tomorrow - a trip to the store to buy so e more potting soil.

Daniel— Super-dooper rose collection, mate. I did not know you knew the famous ballerina. And that you have her as a guest there. Bow-weee, I am so jealous.

Pac— it is all true though, you DO have a very special place. I like seeing your stuff so much.

Today was a golf day all eighteen holes open, for the first time this year.

A sign of Spring. The feeder had a visitor last night.

I'd left pellets in there for a couple of weeks, but not checked the camera, as it wasn't disturbed when I checked each day. But when I came home this afternoon I could see it had gone, so I took the card out of the camera and found this, I'll put some more food out tonight.
