That's going to be a treasured quilt, Willow! a lot of talent, love, and creativity going into your work! I haven't worked on mine for a while. My hobby room suffered during the bathroom model, and so did my energy. It's almost back together, with some improvements.
Thanks, Daniel. I tried to add other colors after talking to my son, which is why it goes from pink and black to the green and black strip then the other colors. Hopefully you can get back to your quilts soon. I still have a couple months before gardening starts (outside). But I know I started gardening in March and April when I was back there.
This is what happens when I leave the room for like 5 seconds. Not only did she mess up the one I was pinning, but she knocked the one off the quilting rack. I had just finished tying it and was going to take both of them into the sewing room to sew after I pinned the edges to the one on the floor. I realized I had the wrong strip and went to the ironing board to get the other and came back to this!
Think you Night Owl. I just finished altering a dresser to make a cart for sewing. I want to start that Christmas quilt soon - maybe it will be done by then!
I have more quilt projects to work on, but I need to get back at my garden! There is no big hurry on those, though maybe I will make a few smaller quilts to donate to my church fundraiser. I have a top that someone else made, and I don't remember where it came from, but it will match that blue binding. I am sure I have plenty for backing and batting, so it should not take too long. And it is NOT denim!
Around the turn of the century, my middle son still lived at home. He had started playing World of Warcraft I think it was called. But before that he played a game called Guild Wars. Sometimes when he had to go to work he'd be in the middle of something (I don't remember what he called it). So I'd do what ever he needed for him. I decided I wanted to play a game, but didn't want to pay (WOW was something he paid for). So he showed me, and set me up with his guild in Guild Wars. He knew I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer every week (that was how I bonded with my BD junior highers, by starting to watch Buffy). There was a Willow in that show; but that name was taken so he told me there was a little fairy thing in WOW called a Willowisp. I've used Willowisp with either his birth date or mine after for different things; Facebook, the thing that was before Facebook I don't remember what it was called. Stuff like that. when I had one. My last dog was called Sabaka. Means dog in Russian. He was a chocolate lab and he was so sweet.
Got out the Christmas fabrics again, reposted since it's been a while. The idea is starting to gel in my mind. I plan to start working on it this weekend. It's still based on Hunter's Star pattern but a little different. That flannel backed quilt gets more use than any other. Gotta use flannel backing more often.
I've been second handing, looking for cotton uniform tops. Some days I find quite a few; other days nothing. I'm mainly looking for solid colors to add to the boys quilts. I have a lot of fabric but not much that's real older boy-ish. So I can put solids in to make up the difference. Daniel, your quilt should look nice! I made a Star of Bethlehem quilt for my son's high school graduation. I really liked how it turned out.I did black for around the star. It really made the colors stand out.
I walked up to the second hand store around the corner, today. I took a page from your book, Daniel and looked at shirts for the boys quilts. I found 4 that are 100% cotton! Yeah!!! So I'll be putting some plaid with the other fabrics. I got all of them for 6 or 7 dollars! I really like the middle one in the second picture, i think it will go well with the Super Hero squares I started when we lived in Texas. And I was actually thinking of plain gray squares between the 4 patches. The top picture is the pattern I'm going to do (not my picture just one I found ). I never did find the pattern I was going to do when I cut the squares. well I know I did "insert full image" before I added the picture of the quilt. The one I really like is in the thumbnail picture.
