I was raised in PA, in Reading. I was still there the summer of 1972 when Hurricane Agnes came up the east coast and flooded everything. It was my first experience with flooding and hurricanes. I could do without flooding.

I did not get flooded. My house sits on a good hill. Glad you could ride your horse to town @Pacnorwest.

I wish I could get those giant long watermelons we used to have. I remember they were ten cents per pound even back in the 1990s. Now all they have are those tiny watermelons that are tasteless. (If it does not have seeds, it is gmo). I have seeds from one that is more like the old fashioned ones that I will plant this week. It was 80F today, and probably won't freeze more here. Local watermelons taste better than the imported ones.

My mock orange is blooming, and seeds are beginning to sprout.

I was able to do a lot of mowing this afternoon, so things look nicer. Farmers ought to get a good cutting of hay this month. The feed store is out of hay until then.

I had 2 large black snakes in my chicken coops the other day.... :scheming:

My 'mystery rose' has its first bloom this morning. I will put a picture down in the rose section. The color is not the same as what my camera shows.

Lawns were mowed and edged. Gave a light trim to a couple of shrubs . Weeded another border and had to make a support for one on the bigger Lavenders that is leaning due to having be over shadowed by another big plant . The plant ,can't recall what it was but I wasn't keen on it, has now been removed and hopefully the Lavender will straighten up now that it's not fighting for light.:fingerscrossed:

I was pondering as to whether or not to attempt dividing up a huge Lupin. I know it's not recommended ( or easy to try) as they have extremely long tap roots. I decided not to bother in the end.

Spent a good amount of time still trying to find spaces for 12 Dahlias that I had in pot displays last year. I have 35 that are already in the borders and desperately want to get the others planted out too. I find it so much easier to leave them insitu out in the borders over Winter than having to fleece them up in their pots in the greenhouse.
I think I have found some of them spaces but fear that the smaller divisions will have to live in pots this year..again. :(

Such a dilemma! I think I will have to sit more on the curb, this year, with a "free plants" sign. I figure that way, maybe someone might develop an interest in gardening, or add to what they are already growing.

I gave the Ozark Beauty strawberries some organic fertilizer and coffee grounds,
mixed into the top part of the soil. I think they are looking good so far. I've never tried this before.

All of the plants are growing now.

I was happy to move the plants outdoors for the day.

I did a bit today. I was going to re-point the patio where necessary, but it is likely to rain. So I mowed the lawn and fed the pots.

We're looking quite good, as the wisterias are nearly out.

As always Riley your garden is like a show garden. A lot of planning and care goes into your garden and so many appreciate your show of plants and flowers every year.

Wish that was possible here but we live in a very quiet area with no through traffic ( and come to think of it...no kerb either :D ) just the occasional dog walkers , so there wouldn't be much of an uptake I think.:)

All I managed yesterday was a quick check over our 3 patio areas pulling up the odd weeds here and there . I have aggravated my dodgy back a bit over the past few days and so I need to rest it a bit.:(

I didn't realise that it was last Monday when i last posted on this thread.
Thank you Sjoerd and Pacnorwest, the clay isn't very bad here but in places if i dig down a spade i get grey clay at the bottom.
I only put grit and stones in for the lavender because they like a lot of drainage. They've seeded a bit in the tarmac pavement by my borders.

It's raining today so i sowed some more wallflower seeds in toilet roll tubes and vermiculite on top, it's better for the seedlings to push up.
