Just saw this on the news. Shocking hope the power outage has not affected our UK garden friends. The Heathrow Airport shut down for days.
It didn't affect us Pac, we are about 70 miles away from where the fire was, but it must have been a terrible experience for those travelling. I believe that at least one flight had to land in Iceland, and others to whichever airports they could reach. Gatwick airport would have had to take some of the strain as well.
Ta Pac Been noticeably quieter today, especially this evening. We often hear the jets going over us towards Europe. Not a sound at the moment.
Thanks Pacnorwest, it only affected the surrounding area, they did have back up but took 18 hours to switch over. We think that it was arson from the russians.
Actually there has been confirmation that there were no signs of outside interference, and the problems were just caused by a fire in the equipment in the sub station. There is an emergency power supply for the airport, but this would take time to organise for some reason.
That's weird. You would think that an "emergency" would trigger it into operation. They should call it an "Auxillary" supply like when you call out the Auxillary fire brigade to help with really huge fires. Takes them time to get organized and get there to help.
