Where is all that turf coming from and what do you do with a turf wall? I've never heard of such a thing .:)

I'm increasing the size of the veg plot by stripping all the turf around it :)

We've got an evil North wind cutting across the fields (We can just see the North Sea on the horizon and there's nothing inbetween that and the Polar Ice cap ) A turf wall seemed the best bet to try to cut the wind out and create a microclimate to give the veg a chance.

I've been used to growing veg in the West Country, a mile from the South Coast, where all I had to worry about was a bit of salt spray after a storm. Here it's a bit like trying to grow things with the freezer door open

We've decided that the World has gone mad, so we're building an asylum to put it in. We'll be living outside of the enclosure :)

Those were tiny mininroses. Some bloom indoors during the winter. One did really nice. I'll leave the rest outdoors from now on.

I moved the rest of the container geraniums outdoors. I did that last week with a few, but brought them inside for some near-freezing weather. They already started growing. It's nice now, so I moved them outside again. I cleaned up the rest, pruned to make them bushy, removed dead growth and dead leaves. Watered with diluted balanced fertilizer.

More. The little ones were seedlings, but I ran out of room in the sunroom. So I let them go dormant until now. The big gnarled on on the left has been overwintered for 20 winters.

These were in the sunroom over the winter, so never went completely dormant. Some were cuttings last year. I grew the red one from seed last winter.

I did the same with the container Mandevillas. I keep them pruned and avoid high nitrogen so they'll be bushy instead of vines..

As long as the weather is nice, I think they'll grow fine.

I moistened the peat moss for the mini dahlia tubers that were stored overwinter in the garage. I hope they grow.

Nothing planned for today, as I've housekeeping and shopping to do.
Just a check around, I'll do some watering later on.

Our wisterias this year will do us proud again, as they always do, if you prune them correctly.

We've fairy lights strung from the cross-beams on the two pergolas. There's quite a few on this one that no longer work, I noticed this when I turned them on for a few seconds before we went to bed last night. So I've ordered a new string.
I rarely turn them on, but I don't like anything not to be working correctly, when I do.

There's been some general housekeeping at the occupied home.

Some of the bedding has been dragged out into the entrance.

The first sight of the occupant was at 8.46 pm last night.

    Then again at 8.52pm

    and finally, at 9.04pm.

But it didn't leave the house at all. Neither was the food touched in the modified feeder. I can only assume it's a bit too cold yet to be permanently active.

The other camera didn't work at all, but I've a replacement on order .

Lovely outside but a tad breezy.I decided to make a start on collecting up some leaves that seem to get blown to a particular area in our garden. Got quite a bit done but then fell and landed very awkwardly , the pain was terrible and the ' surgery ' leg was bend right back. Hubs was indoors waiting for a phone call and despite calling out to him he didn't hear me ( he is very deaf). In the end I had to work out how to get myself up and decided to grit my teeth and just try and crawl over to the house wall and see if there was any way I could pull myself up to standing. Well I did do it but at first my leg kept giving way and couldn't really weight bear...I thought that I had either damage the new knee or broken my leg. After hobbling and dragging my sorry self indoors I realised that thankfully I had no broken bones but the new knee is most definitely not happy and is complaining and has swelled up considerably more than it has done in recent weeks and my whole leg is throbbing......so I have a feeling there will now be a ( hopefully brief) setback in my recent surgery recovery. Just a blip maybe.:fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:.

Plan on stopping after work to my local nursery for some potato seed since I neglected to order online. Oh and find a rose bush.

Oreti sending healing blessings your way.
I fell hard on my knee and hobbling round , icing and Tylenol. Hope in a few more days it will be back to normal. Well in that case normal isn’t in the joints vocabulary. So just roughing it for the time being.

Clay it’s almost time to get those tater seeds planted. Good Luck and have a scrumptious harvest.
