Caribbean - Cuba and Haiti, 30-50m. USA- Texas; Mexico wide range.
synonymes: Mammillaria glomerata, M.prolifera ssp./v.haitiensis.
Encounterability in collections: Common worldwide
If plant's radial spines are white and centrals are yellow, it is concordant with variety or ssp. haitiensis as shown here, (J.Pilbeam, Mammillaria, 1999)
It was number two in the genus to be described after the type species M.mammillaris in year 1768..
An extremely common and easy plant to grow . Flowers are self fertile and produce bright red fruits and you can see the flowers and fruits from the previous year in the same time.
