I like this plant because it has large leaves and beautiful varied colours and happily maintains them when it is too hot for the beautiful colours of the northern hemisphere deciduous flora. Many Australian plants that are drought resistant have small leaves with a small surface area, or else are best suited to the more humid tropics, so this bush belies it's more tropical appearance by growing in our harsh and dry summers.
