In my yard it thrives on neglect. Some varieties are highly fragrant with a cinnamon/clove-like smell. In the bed that I planted it in the plant has spread to over 6 feet by 4 feet. Even the smaller plants that were cuttings are between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 feet square. Needs well drained soil. The fragrance of mine is incredible. I would vote it "Best fragrant flower".
