This plant can winter over outside in 8a, and has for 3 years now. Trick to growing these outside in area 8a, is to not cut the stems back after the leaves have dropped, until the hard frost is over in the spring. They like plenty of water, partial sun, not too hot, so the northwest is great for growing these plants. They like fertilizer.
