Our soil is very alkaline and hard to grow healthy plants in. So my husband built this out of untreated wood. We brought in compost to fill each with. We think the compost may have been bad, or we just can't grow healthy vegees. The only thing that flourished in these were Okra (which were 10' high at the top) and parsley. We have some kind of borers that go through pepper plants, and tomatoes never look good. This was built Oct, 2010. No weeding though. This year our son brought us a truckload of black gold....dirt that is beautiful. We're are in the process of planting vegees in it. |
