Description: Here are some of the Texas bluebonnets (state flower) in our pasture, with one lonely Plains Poppy-mallow amid all that blue.
Bluebonnets may be the state flower, but bees are not interested in them. And, as Cactus Jack Garner said, no flower that ain't sweet in the mouth of a cow should be the Texas state flower!
They do have the advantage of having seeds that can lie dormant for up to seven years (just in case of a drought!).
