It rained heavily last night, but I knew that if I didn't get into the garden and harvest squash, I'd have enormous squash in a day or so.
These are what I harvested on May 16--the striped ones are Striata d'Italia, a meaty squash, that even when large has a very small seed cavity; the light green ovals are Coosa, also meaty with small seed cavity; and the other three are plain zucchini. There are two straight ones (one is hard to see behind the larger one in the foreground) and the curved one is a different variety. I planted three varieties of zucchini since I had the seed, but didn't label the plants. Oh, well, they taste good even if we don't know the name! |
