Often the plants offered for sale as Norfolk Island pines are actually Cook pines. Hard to tell the difference unless you are looking at the cotyledons of the seedlings, or the mature trees.

Not real showy, a darkish red. A good bee plant, and something different.

Very nice plant in full sun. Inveterate flopper in part shade and moist soil. Can get powdery mildew in those conditions.

Leaves in spring, flowers in summer. Plant where messy foliage in spring isn't a problem. Slow to get going after planting, but worth the wait.

A red-flowering perennial that blooms at the same time as TB iris. Very adaptable. Suitable for a xeriscape.

Kind of floppy, but very pretty blooms that would bloom at the same time as bearded iris here. Doesn't do as well as iris on my slightly alkaline soil. I would grow this plant if my soil allowed it.

Not the newest stonecrop, but the best! A plant I wouldn't be without.

This is my favorite native wildflower. Plant is tolerant of some clay. Downside is that it is a shortlived perennial in the garden, so letting it reseed, or saving seed occasionally is essential to keeping it.

I only recently began growing this plant (spring 2014). I have heard elsewhere that it self-sows freely and can become invasive. So far, my one small plant is still settling itself.
