I came across this website as I was reading about Freesias; they are a new addition I planted this year in one of my flower beds and a first for my somewhat of a green thumb I love this time of year because I love gardening and being outdoors! I am excited that I came across this gardening community and can't wait to read read read and add wrinkles to my brain.

Thank You! Thank You all for such a warm welcome! Many of you are from such faraway exotic lands, WOW-Ireland, Scotland, Norway...I think tulips! I live in Northwest Arkansas and we are in just about mid growing season right now..at least that's what my flower beds and veggie garden say We have had so much moisture this year things have been blooming for quite awhile now. My mums are even beginning to bloom already!!! I love to grow just about anything really and don't really favor flowers over veggie gardening or vice versa. I enjoy it all and still get so excited when the first peek of a plant comes up out of the ground. Right now my beds are a mix and spread about my yard of hostas, pentas, mexican heather,blue salvia,zinnias, glads,bachelor buttons,cornflower,begonia,brown eyed susans,mums, lilys, stella daylilys, oriental poppies (which are done blooming),astilbe, african daiseys, flowering sage, magic roses, petunias and a couple others I know I'm forgetting. My veggie garden this year I kept simple with a couple different peppers, radish, jack o lantern pumpkins, and tomatoes. New growing this year for me is Asparagus, rhubarb, miniature pumpkins, red sunflowers and freesia!

Hello garden_angel Welcome to Gardenstew from southern Ontario! I usually cut back my Mums until later in the season so I can count on their blooms for the fall
The freesias foilage spikes are about 3-4 inches high so far, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. They did take quite awhile to start coming up it seemed...I was beginning to wonder if the squirrels ate the little bulbs!!! I didn't know that about the mums!!! I have had them planted for approx 7 years now and have never had them bloom this early until this year. Is it too late to cut them back since they started blooming??? I feel the wrinkles forming already :idea:
