Here is a picture of my container garden. My foxglove plant is on the camera side of the bench. On the other side of the bench is a beautiful salvia which I had to deadhead so it's not all that visible. Growing up the structure by the drain pipe is a clematis that I am babying as it was half dead when I bought it.
Don't fret about the clemetis. I bought one last year and it appeared to die, but this year it came back bigger and better then when I bought it. give it time and it will be fine.
Oh I know getting that clematis to do what I want it to is going to take time. I have some sweet pea and morning glory seedlings coming up in flats right now. I want that entire structure covered in vines and flowers so that when it is at its absolute best, the only thing holding the clock/thermometer/hygrometer in the top center of that structure, is the vines and flowers.. or so it would appear.
Your pots are cute AJ ...my hubby wouldn't let me grow clematis, he said it is a glorified noxious weed :-o so I grew jasmine instead and it is doing very well this year after a slow start last year.
You have a nice array of flowers there in your garden. I'm with droopy on seeing some close-ups. BTW...did you save anu seeds of that foxglove for next year?
Oh yes! I went through each and every pod on the stem I dried out and got as many of the foxglove seeds as I could. That was my first mother's day present from my new husband. It re-seeded itself in the pot so I am quite excited as it is quite leafy and will probably end up blooming again very soon! Also, I have started some of the seeds in flats in my backyard where I do my main growing and starting since the sun is in the back in the morning. I will get on the close-up pictures as soon as my camera battery charges up!
Up close pictures as requested... To begin, my prized foxglove revived! My dead-headed salvia... My highly valued blue star petunias, though they are a deep purple color... and this one in a large container with some sort of yellow flower I just adored behind it. It is a very bushy type (the yellow flower) and it is growing to where it mingles in with the petunias. This yellow flower is obviously unknown to me due to no tag when I bought it My bonfire begonia in memory of a very dear friend taken before her time Portulaca Mix (according to the tag) Deadheaded snapdragon trying to re-bloom. I have 3 of these so I didn't take pictures of all of them trying to re-bloom. Clematis on the clock... And now for the ones I am unsure of. When I bought them, they did not have a tag but I thought they were pretty. I will number them so if any of you can ID them, I can label them properly. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Please keep in mind here that this is my very first attempt at gardening. I have never been an avid gardener. When I started this one, I wanted the front of my townhouse to be comfortable after the example my father set for me. He is an avid gardener boasting sunflowers, roses, fruit trees, a slew of fruits and vegetables and cacti, to name only a small bit of his prized growth. I am learning though, quite quickly at that. I am finding that taking care of my garden is a decent replacement for the times when my husband is unable to be home. Also, my son who has autism, really enjoys helping me (yes, he knows that mommy's foxgloves can make him get very, very, very sick and they are mommy's only to touch). He is the reason I have so many seedlings in flats in the backyard. I don't know where I am going to put them when they are ready for transplanting.
Oh, thank you for posting the close-ups! Let's see what you've got. No 1 are pansies. No 2 looks like an impatiens. 3 is lantana, 4 is lobelia. 5 I don't know. 6 is gerbera I think. 7 is ageratum, 8 is a petunia too and 9 also a lantana. Your son might well be an accomplished gardener soon, tell him well done from me.
I know that 8 is a petunia as well. I'm just not sure of the exact one... as in, the tag said ice blue only. Garden centers really should specify better...
I forgot my seedlings!!!! Some aren't doing so great, others... awesome! I got the seeds for these from the dollar store actually.. 4 for $1. You get what you pay for in most cases. These sprouted up about 2 weeks ago and when the others did not want to, I removed the unviable seed and just 2 days ago placed some of the foxglove seeds in the main flat on the far right side. The four section flat in the front contains sweet peas, also planted 2 days ago.
I have no trees in my front yard, they are all across the street. The owners of my townhouse complex have not planted any trees around here yet and while I want to, I am not allowed to This is why everything is in pots. Tenants are not to place any plants in the ground. Oh well. I got away with putting all the solar lights in the ground he he he
You will need to put your Lantana in a much larger pot soon.I do love all your plants.The star petunia is wonderful.I have never seen one.Thanks for the close ups.
I will definitely be transplanting those lantana into bigger pots as soon as the seedlings are ready for the smaller pots.
