I've had several Bluejays visiting my feeders lately, so I thought I would share them with you. Although they have a bad reputation, I've not had a problem with them bullying other birds at all. Notice how it is holding the peanut between its feet. They usually take several peanuts at a time and fly away, but recently they are enjoying their treat nearby, and I get to enjoy them!

See how he has two peanuts in his beak!

What great pictures. We have them here, but I only rarely see them.
I have heard they have a reputation for being somewhat territorial and nasty towards humans too. :?:

They are pretty, I love watching them at my house too. But they really can be nasty. When I was growing up my Dad used to carve wood out on the front steps of our house and we had this blue jay that would swoop down and try to pick him off. The blue jay actually did that to my cat as well. One day we found that blue jay by the back door (a favorite spot for Junior's (cat) treasures). Thanks for sharing.

We have a family of them that lives in our backyard too. In the springtime, one of them used to divebomb my hubby as he mowed the back lawn. They're tough, but beautiful birds.

    Beautiful pics!
We have a couple families that are now bringing the babies to the feeders to feed them. I give them peanuts in the shell and have a few that will come withing a few feet of me to get their treat.
They are chickens though. They refuse to come to my hand for a peanut! :D
Yes they can be quite aggressive, especially if they think you're too close to their nest.

I agree with you about the Blue Jays being beautiful..they are a favorite here. I put out peanuts every morning to attract them.

    Great pictures BlueBirdie...
