We got back from our vacation in Glacier National Park in Montana last week. We had a wonderful time. The scenery is amazing and the weather was perfect. The high temps were in the 70s, which is HEAVENLY compared to 100+ we've been having here! It's hard to pick just a few but here are some of my favorites. We saw a lot of wildlife. The mountain goats wandered around, not at all bothered by all of us tourists. We especially enjoyed watching these Grizzly cubs playing. Beautiful wildflowers were blooming everywhere. There are many waterfalls. This is one of my favorites. I have more posted at Photobucket if you would like to see them. Click on a picture to see an explanation. http://tinyurl.com/69dhtw
That looks an absolutely stunning vacation spot BlueBirdie, and a comfortable temperature also. I was just wondering, is there a tour guide to show you around?
What amazing scenery!! I love the photographs of the wildlife you saw while you were away too as we don't get bears, elk or marmots around here. The waterfall shots are absolutely stunning and just wait until Toni sees those mountains!! I'm so glad you enjoyed your holiday and let us see your wonderful piccies. Thank you.
That park is one of the most special places I've ever been to. I'm glad you got to experience it. Around every turn is something to take away you breath. I will always remember the Going to the Sun Highway. Thanks for the photos. They brought back some nice memories. muddy
What a gorgeous place I have never been out west but would like to one day Thank you so much for sharing your vacation with us Cat
Those pictures are awesome...Fantastic views and you captured everything so great...Thank you for the tour and if I liked to travel, I would go there. Any mosquitoes there?...Sherry :-D I did go into your link too...
Thanks everyone, for the nice comments. Frank, there are tour guides available for some things. There are the historic "Red Bus" tours that take tour groups across the "Going to the Sun Road". I hear that it is very informative, although we didn't take one ourselves. We did travel that road and the scenery is beautiful. There are also several lakes that have tour boats on them with a guide/captain. We did take one of those and it was very enjoyable. Sherry, if you change your mind about traveling, put Glacier Park at the top of your list! I hate to tell you there are mosquitos, but it was still worth it.
OMG what beautiful scenery, the tall trees, the creek, the waterfalls...I love running water in the wild....the mountains. I am going to sit in the picture of 'View from Highline Tr' for a few hours and try to forget the heat.
Bluebirdie...I even had my husband come on the computer last night to view your pictures..he was impressed...Great job...Sherry
I don't know what part you started from.I want to take the one from West Yellow Stone Montana at Gallatin Gateway and go to Glacier Park from there. We went through Yellow Stone National by way of Cody, Wyoming went through Bill Cody Museum. Then to Ole Faithful and over Bear Tooth mountain into Red Lodge, Montana and back to Billings. The amount of animals are amazing. The Beauty of these water falls is magnificent. This land is to wonderful to describe and when you say Big Sky country unless you are viewing it in person you will never understand it.Pictures don't show it like you see it.Is thjat the way you feel about it Bluebirdie or Muddybob ?
