Another "first of the season". I had to show my first two ears. I am so pleased with these. We broke them off right before coming home this evening. I flopped the harvest down and plopped them in the boiling water while the bride made the rest of the supper. They were DEE-lish! Take a look:
Yummy, and i'll take quietly's beets, i always get my wife's beets too. You grew some nice eating there.
His and hers corn! How nice of mother nature. Their right, you have a meal right there, that looks mouth watering all on its own...Well done!
Those ears look fantastic Sjoerd! Oh I can't wait for fresh corn! All of those veggies look great. I ate the very first red cherry tomato yesterday but it will be a while before the big ones are red. I'm almost drooling looking at yours.
Your corn looks so good! I don't grow corn since I don't have the room to grow what I would use. I love it and sometimes just have a few ears for dinner and nothing else. grilling it is my favorite cooking method. Enjoy!!!
Oh, it all looks good....except no beets for me either. Randy likes them so I will try growing some next year tho. Your ears of corn look very tasty. Now those green beans and new potatoes I could eat those at every meal.
Peppersage, Toni and Quietly--those beets are the "Chioggia", a beet that is red and white on the inside and does not have all of that almosy blood-like red juice that gets all over everything on your plate. I find the taste of this type of beet less earthy as the typical red ones.
I don't plant sweet corn. I have enough stuff for the raccoons to get into. They just love sweet corn, well any type of corn. There is a commercial grower about 30 miles from us that raises the best sweet corn. They set up a booth at one of the local stores parking lots every day. Their corn is reasonably priced and it is the mixed white and yellow. It is the best tasting corn ever. We have been know to have a meal of just corn and fresh tomatoes too!
