BUTTERFLY!!! August 10, 2008

Weeks ago, I bought one of those butterfly enclosures for my daughter & then sent off for the caterpillars. They came & we watched them gorge themselves on the agar in their container, then after about 10 days, they each made a chrysalis. We then transferred them to the net enclosure & this morning, we had butterflies: Painted Lady butterflies - Vanessa cardui. When my wife was putting a flower dipped in sugar water into the enclosure, one of the butterflies escaped. It let my daughter handle it & it flew onto her nose & crawled on her face!

 

Awww, just look at that face! Lovely butterfly but nothing beats that girl of yours.
