CW, i'm not sure where that town is, but it must be north of the Salt Mountain if she has a short growing season. South of there the season is about normal with other parts of the world. I can tell you we have extremely strict rules as far as seeds comming into the country. Your best bet would be to send seeds from a reputable seed company. Then the country knows they are desease free. You might also want to check what plants are not allowed into the country because of the potental to overtake. Example is the Tromsø Palm,,, looks like Angelica but is super huge, taller and bigger than a man. It was imported from Russia as a "cool" garden plant, and now it has taken over the northern part of the country. So check first what seeds and plants are native to your friends area.

As far as seed companies in the states, i'm sure someone can help you there better than i can. Good Luck!

As far as seed companies in the USA you will have to contact them to find out if they ship to Norway.
Contacting one like Gurneys.com will give you the info you need because if one can't ship then none of then can.
If they just say they don't ship to Norway, there might still be hope that one of the others does.

CW may I make a suggestion?
If you aren't sure which zone your friend lives in and what types of seeds you can/can't send to her in Norway then could you perhaps find out which garden centres are near her home? If you can find that out then you could buy some vouchers from the company for her. That way she can pick exactly what she wants when she wants.
I know that I love to get vouchers because then I can spend time browsing the seed racks when it's time for planting. To me it feels like my birthday or Christmas as I don't have to spend any of my own money. :-D

There are several places called Myklebust in Norway. One is not too far from me, but in a colder zone, another one's way south of me, and how many more there are I just don't know. I need a zip code, and I'll be able to estimate the zone.

Most seed can be shipped to Norway, I don't believe there are very many restrictions on those. Just don't ship kilos of the stuff. :D We can order lots and lots from Thomson and Morgan for instance, and I can't see that US based seed companies should be treated differently.

I think she's in Norwegian zone 4 or 5, that's USDA zone 7 or 8, the same as me. Good luck with your seed venture, please let us know how it went.
