This happy family stopped by a nearby mall in Long Island. Guess they needed to do shopping for those growing ducks. This beautiful butterfly landed in my garden on a sunny day recently. Not sure what species it is. Ill try and get some pics of the birds who eat all my figs.
awe arent they cute !! i love ducklings and the butterfly is very pretty also sadly I cant help with the ID of it, thank you for the photos
Great pictures. We have geese that nest on our lake every summer. Now they're all flocking and starting to head south, and we know it won't be long before the snow flies.
What a great photograph of the geese and goslings. The parent birds must be teaching their youngsters road safety. You did well to capture the butterfly with your camera as they can be so hard to snap as they rarely sit still for long.
Thank you for your comments. It was extremely difficult getting that butterfly pic. It kept flapping its wings slowly and then I finally got it fully open. It took many shots. The ducks only took two, but they are such a cute little family. I have many more pics of nearby wild life that pop up in my neighborhood. Ill be posting soon.
Ok I might go a little crazy with my wildlife picture posting so here it goes... I would really like an ID on this fellow. Never seen one before. Was in my backyard one summer and it was the last one i ever saw. Oryx- closest living relative to the elephant. Funny huh? Shot this in Israel and it was hard because they are very shy. Found this guy near one of my digsites (archeology) on the Delaware water gap. This critter was also found by the dig. Scary looking. This thing gave me nightmares. Also by the dig. I named this picture 'viscious little mofos' because thats what they were. When I bent over to take the pic there were a few standing at the tips of grass and they would attack anything that came to close. Wild rabbit near Binghamton NY on the university campus. This swan was swimming around in a Brooklyn NY marina where my friend holds his boat. This guy was found on my friends property in upstate NY. Last but not least, this baby (Black?) bear was playing with the trash we left out also by my friends house upstate. He was so cute i wanted to go play with him but momma bear was probably close and dangerous. Enjoy guys =)
I am, I am! I really love wildlife photos, and you've got some extraordinary ones. I can't pick a favourite, they're all lovely.
Those are great! I think but not sure the little guy on the pipe, is a ferret. We have those up here, and minks also, they both look so alike, just different color. Wonderful pics. I really enjoyed those.
Oh, I'm so thrilled with the Binghamton rabbit. I grew up in the Tri-city area of upstate NY. We sure had some cute wildlife. Those other creatures are reaaallly interesting. I loved the photos and hearing from someone hailing from my home ground. Welcome to the best "stew" ever. Gardengater
More fantastic photographs and I love them all - well except maybe the spider and the ants. However, the 'Oryx' (which is actually an antelope) is actually a Rock Hyrax. You are right though hyrax are the smallest living relatives of the elephant. :-D Do keep your piccies coming as we love to see wildlife photographs.
My, but you live and work near a lot of interesting creatures!!! I really enjoyed the pics! Thanx. @;~)
AAAAAACKKKK! The tarantula gives me the willies. Great photos, though, and what good fortune that you work among all of these amazing critters.
