Hi all, im glad I found this forum since im running out of options. I recently purchased a lovely apartment, except for 1 thing as you'll see in the pictures, just to explain, at the end of the wall is a breathtaking view of a valley, that is were i am planning on putting a sitting area with a wooden top. The problem im facing is that ugly wall, I dont know what to do with it, how to cover it,and as you can see my living room has a lovely view of that wall, theirs a small rectangular area were I will plant a couple of shrubs still not sure what, but it should make the view from the living room slightly nicer, but other than that, im stuck with this wall. I would LOVE to hear your opinions and thoughts, since i'm completely stuck, Please help me, oh and theirs low level lights on the floor. Ziggy[/img]
Low light level at the floor, does that mean mostly shade or is there any reflective sunlight at all? It also appears that when construction of the building is complete you will have less light down there than you do now. That would mean that shade plants would be the best for the area. Shrubs are nice but for a closed in section like that I would want color and lots of it. You could put some brightly colored pots with flowering shrubs or perennials further down the space to encircle where you will have the seating area. Some of the pots sitting on the floor and some on stands to add dimension and more appeal to the plantings. You can also collect some small garden ornaments to place here and there among the pots. I would put a large rectangle or fan shaped trellis in the left hand side of the planter with a flowering vine of some sort growing up it. And fill the rest of it up with flowering perennials. To get more plants in that space, find some planter stands. That way you will have plants on two levels. Will you be able to attach anything to that wall? If so you could find some very pretty, decorative wall planters or just decorative wall pieces. A wall mounted planter with an Ivy trailing down the wall would be pretty. Start checking out garden centers in you area for plants that are available and do well in your climate. If there will be an outside electrical fixture, you could find a pretty water fountain for that corner just the other side of the doors.
hi, well,if you feel artistic and you don't like gardening , then things such as this is a good idea http://www.walltowallstencils.com/stenc ... /beach.php or planting some climbing roses or any kind of plants you like would be nice.. maybe painting the wall with some asian (budda style)colors with a fountain and nice lights would look good as well.with some zen music and candles hope this helps you
Sorry for taking so long to answer, the low level lights are lights on the floor, placed in the ground, the area gets a good amount of sun, a couple of hours a day. I will visit the garden center soon to see what kind of plants grow here and what i can put, also the trellis idea is nice, and the fountain i will have to see what i can find. Im also thinking of covering the wall in stone so im not sure if i can put any wall mounted planters, might have to put something simple to support ivy. I will check it out, and thanks for the input i really appreciate it.
I saw some very nice wall mounted fountains at the garden center in Ace Hardware. There was a lion's head where the water came down. It could probably be mounted on a stone faced wall, too. A bench along the wall would be nice if it was warm out. You could sit out of the wind and read or sew or whatever you like to do. dooley
I agree with the others. Colorful plants and flowers would be very nice. I see there seems to be a small enclosed area at the bottom and I think you would be able to make a custom fountain that would use that as the basin. You can run a hose with a pump up the wall behind vines and have water coming down the wall into the basin. Obviously, this can only be done if that wall isn't the foundation or the wall of a home or building. You wouldn't want water damage.
hey! well the view indeed is amazing, what you can do to get rid of the ugliness of the wall is get texture paint done on the wall. it will hide the wall behind beautiful colours.
Hey, you'll just need to paint the wall to make it bright and looking clean.. and need some modern furniture's to add design.
