    Hello
I always heard growing up that you could change the color of hydrangea blooms by what you put in the soil. If you wanted blue blooms you added a lot of acid, if you wanted pink blooms you planted rusty nails around the roots, for white you just left them alone.
Does anyone know if this is true or not? I have never tried it and wondered if there was any truth to it or not. I have read that hydrangeas like acid soils so I figure that much of the old wives' tale is true.

If you want them to be blue, put several rusty nails right around the plant itself. I put my nails there, but I have the type of plant that only blooms once a year (and it had already bloomed). Plan on getting the 'Forever Bloom' plant next spring and will try the nails with it.

Hi Toni thanks I did read that post but it did not address all my questions and it was locked so I asked here again, sorry if I was not supposed to.
    Thanks Kuntrygal for the tips.

Asking again is good, that way the newer members get to see answers they may have missed too. I just wanted to make sure you saw that one in case your answers were there.
