I am not too familiar with what plant do well in what conditions and now that I am finding interest in this subject. I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for good house plant that maybe could sit in my window and get about half a day of light (morning to noon). Does anyone have a good recommendation? Oh and I would prefer something colorful and easy to maintain.

    not to mention i have a small area for soil, approx. 3" x 3" x 3"...

    anyone?

Cactus! I have a few miniature ones that have been in my windowsill for years. Very low maintenance and quite cute, in my opinion. ;)

How about a spiderplant, easy to grow and get babys and you can put the babys in water to root!

My granny grew geraniums in pots on her kitchen window sill, they always seemed to do well.
