The Cooper's hawk visited again this week. He was on top of the bird pergola looking for something to catch.

In this photo he was kind of stretching up to see more...

Look how his head turns and not his body...

Here he is starting to puff up in the wind... [IMG]

Here he crunched up and was coming back up...

I think he is a beauty with the wind blowing his feathers...

What a truly handsome bird your Cooper's Hawk is Sherry. With his mottled colouring it's easy to see how he could remain hidden in a tree and never be seen. I'm so glad he's coming to your garden where you can get such great shots of him. :stew2:

What a handsome bird he is, I adore birds of prey but nature is so cruel, you dont want the Hawk to go without food yet you dont want any of the little birds to die what a quandry! thank you for sharing the pictures they are fantastic.

The neighbors say they see the hawks getting the Mourning doves in their backyard for lunch...wouldn't that be a great picture if I could be fast enough or in the right spot.....?

The pictures are great and so brilliant! We have a few that hang out in our yard too every now and then. There was one that swooped and caught something and what a screech! Made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, then the cats went looking for something to hide under :D

Awesome pictures! Some raptor swooped down and grabbed some lunch at my feeder yesterday, but I only saw it at the last minute, seemed all-gray under the wings & I have no clue who it was.
