Loved to see a pet area here... I have two babies at my house. Scooby is an 165 pound Great Dane and Teddy is a med size mix we rescued from our local pound. They are both in the house with us, but we have 7 acres they can run when they feel like it. Does anyone else have a Dane? We love ours and he is such a good house dog. I know that sounds crazy, but he is so intelligent and well behaved. We love way out in the boonies and he makes me feel safe, even though he is a big baby...lol.

Anyway, I am new to this site and enjoying it, and thought on this snowy day I would share....

Lovely pets IndianaGardner. Did you name Scooby after 'Scooby Doo' :-D Strange to see the ears 'pricked'. They don't do that in the UK. A friend of mine had a silver grey Dane a few years back, he was a lovely old softy, just like your Scooby.

bless them they're adorable. Scooby's ears look like they are held up on invisible wires :DI too have never seen a Great Dane with pricked ears, wonderful photographs and they are obviously very happy boys.

I'm a big-dog lover, too, as you can see by my icon...I can't imagine life without dogs. My other pooch is a Golden Retriever. Both my boys are older now, but they still keep me running! We're on our third Newfoundland and our third Golden Retriever, although I think that my next dog will probably be from the humane society or a rescue site. I think it's a great idea to rescue unwanted pets.

We had a Great Dane a years ago called Amber. She was a real beauty and the same colour as your Scooby. They may be big but they also have big hearts and are fantastic with children. So glad you rescued Teddy from the from the pound - he must love all the space you have and a friend like Scooby too. :-D

Great pictures of your furbabies Brooke. We have a Great Dane just down the street from us...he is HUGE! And boy can he run! Teddy looks a lot like my dog Boomer, but Teddy's colors are lighter. Somewhere I have a picture of Boomer laying like that...I'll have to see if I can find it :)

Yes, Scooby had never lived where he could run until we got him last October, it took about a month of taking him out on a lead before we trusted him loose. If he ran he would have been miles before he stopped. Now he is so attached to us, he's afraid he'll be left outside, so he comes back. Treaties help too, but I wonder if he will swim in the lake this summer, it was cold when we got him. Dane's don't get winter coats, and if he is outside at all he shivers. He lays in front of our fireplace and loves his "blankie." If you cover him up he will stay under it. I wanted to buy him a dog coat-blanket but hubby says no...lol. He is outside only to do his business anyway. About his ears, they we're done before we got him. I don't think I would have had them done, it sounds painful to me, but they sure are pretty. The dane's on TV have them done, but "pets" normally don't. I like both ways, but he looks intelligent with them perked up.

About Ted, he is my sweetie, he is the softest most loveable guy. He is a great kid dog, they both are, but Ted is the one they can handle and loves to sleep with my girls.

Have a great day, still frozen artic here...but have power!
