Another announcement: I am going on a Walk to Emmaus this weekend. My sponsor will be picking me up in about a half-hour and taking me to this old convent. I have heard good things about Walks to Emmaus and know people, who say, it is a life-changing experience. Although I am looking forward to the experience & drawing closer to God, I am not going to like not being able to communicate with family for 96 hours. I have never gone longer than 12 - 16 hours without talking to wife & daughter when out of town. My stomach is in knots over this. It also means, I will not be able to get on the Internet for 96 hours too.

Any of y'all been on a Walk?

I hope you'll enjoy the experience, WTxDaddy, and 96 hours isn't that long if you take a wide look at it. :D

No, but some members of my family have done the walk. I am anxious to hear how your experience will be. I think possibly when my kids are older I will go on one myself. Good for you!

I am back. I miscalculated - it was 72 hours, not 96. Anyway, this was a truly great experience. I encourage all Christians to check into one of these. There is secrecy surrounding what happens, which bothered me, until now. I know why they don't tell people what happens at these things, because what happens is so great, to tell beforehand would ruin the surprise.

I can say that I hugged complete strangers (well, they're not strangers anymore) and saw many big, strong men cry and submit to God's love. It was very, very moving. For me, one particular event caused my heart to beat so strongly, I thought it would pop out of my chest! I came away with a very new and deep appreciation for the Eucharist. Receiving the bread & wine from now on will be much more meaningful and dynamic for me. God is awesome and He loves all of us to an extent we cannot possibly fathom. But we should at least open up to it & let ourselves feel it.

    De Colores!

I'm so glad you've had such a good and strong experience on your trip. It seems your hours away from home were well spent.

Fabulous! I went on my walk back in 1992 and have attended and participated in many since then. What a great enlightening experience and I"m so glad you got to go!
    Kudos!
