Hullo fellow 'Stewers, have been away for some time now but am hoping to be back more regularly, especially as here in the UK, spring is approaching (hopefully) once again and with it, the new growing season. Meantime, I have a question, please: when I was a little girl, I recall seeing many greenhouses that had their windows whited out. I am assuming that this was to prevent too much glare from direct sunlight? Can anyone tell me whether this is correct, please and also, what sort of paint should be used? Not white gloss, I'm guessing! Thanks in advance. Sharon
I actually found a white paint powder pack on a website that was specifically for whiting out greenhouse windows, I will get looking at my history for you see if I can find it. I don't have a greenhouse so hadn't paid too much attention to it. http://www.allotment.org.uk/greenhouse/Greenhouse_Ventilation/s-shading.html Has the paint product designed specifically for whitewashing greenhouses, hope this helps it is called Coolglass Shading.
OK, thank you, that's a great help. Will look and see if I can find it online although it's possible our local hardware store might order some in for me if I ask nicely.
