Well my cheeks are rosey after being in the sun for 2 days on the allotment, but proper sunburn....I think it will be a while before I worry about by 100% sunblock.

One of my biggest indicator that spring is coming, I get my first corn on my little toe.. Had to put plaster on it today to wash my car.. It was almost 70º here today.
Tomorrow may be 37º..eek and snow?

I second that from a fellow southerner! I think the thing that herald's spring the most for me would have to be the weather steadying. Instead of 60/30 for a couple days, then back to 75/55, we're staying around 80/60. And just think - summer's not even here yet!

For me, the first real sign of spring is a flock of cedar waxwings which show up around the end of February to eat all of the frozen crabapples on our trees. As soon as I see them, I know that even though there is still snow on the ground and a chill in the air, spring is somewhere around the corner.

When I drive past the goat pen and see new kids (they're too cute!) and when I smell the turn of fresh tilled Earth from the farmer who cultivates the fields nearby.

    My Favorite Signs of Spring

I love the honking sounds of the geese returning, the huge flocks of birds roosting on their trip back from who knows where, the sweet animal sounds and songs, the scampering squirrels, the daffodils pushing their way out of the ground, the neighbors venturing from their homes to putter in the yard...but my eyes always stray to the orchard to watch for leaf buds, then apricot, cherry and plum blossoms beginning to unfold.

By the way, Captain Kirk, Maryland has that same crazy spring weather!

For me it's the smell in the air. We live in a wooded area, and when the temps warm up and the snow melts down it smells so fresh and clean out there.

I knew FOR SURE that spring was on it's way last weekend when I saw my first Robin (that's our state bird here in Wisconsin, and that was a welcome site to see!).

Snowdrops - yeah - beginning of spring
Pool being heated by the sun and my german shepherd diving in - definite sign of spring.
