Have any of you guys tried the Topsy Turvy upside down tomato planter? I bought one yesterday and couldn't wait to try it. ...then I read some consumer reviews; seems like about half the people love it and the other half hate it. If anybody can share, please do. Thank you.
Sue This is great. I was going to post later but you beat me to it. I have been hearing alot about these. I did some research online. I actually went out and bought a hanging pot also today. I thought I would start my own seed and once the roots had a good start-I would put them in the pot through the bottom of the hole and fill with soil. I haven't decided though if I want to try more then 1 pot. I plan to post once I get it going.
Did Capt Kirk try that one year? He did something with hanging tomatoes, I think. Ask him and see what he says. dooley

I saw these on tv too. Seems novel, but I am not in a hurry to try it this year -no room! Look forward to hearing how you like it.
topsy turvy planting bags hi, I just planted two tomato plants, and one each of zucchini, summer squash and egg plant. The seedlings are doing well...no real shock evident and the squash plants are opening new leaves already. I have them all in my greenhouse hanging from the cross beams so they are 8 ft high which makes watering them a pain I need to remedy equipment wise. I can water them easily but my nozzle leaks and it runs down my arm into my armpit!HAHAHA! I particularily like the fact that the hardware to the hook above swivels so you can apply bug sprays or fungicide, etc. just by rotating the bag, which also means you can save room because you only have to make room for your body on one side so harvesting will be a breeze...and since I'm a FULL FIGURED GAL that helps out alot! I wish you success but make sure you have another set of hands when inserting your seedlings. I recruited my husband, it was a Laurel and Hardy situation for a while, but we got r done and had fun to boot! Good Luck! Melody
My mother bought me 2 planters of a similar kind and I can't wait to use them. We have several green houses around here that plant in this basic way. The plants hang down and they do wonderfully. They seem to do better. Just make sure that they get lots of sun and heat. The bag part of the topsy turvy is supposed to really warm up the soil and help the plant grow faster.
