I have never seen roses like yours before. Anyway, my rose plants are starting to give out little leaves so I wouldn't. I'd wait till fall if I were you.
Those look like Hibiscus to me Margie. I'm not sure what to do with those. I'm sure someone else who does will be along soon
What you have is probably a Rose of Sharon but it is not a real rose, it is a hibiscus. There really isn't a reason to cut the Rose of Sharon back.
Yup, that's hibiscus and no don't cut it back. Do you have it blooming this soon, mine are just coming up.

I sent were hibiscus I guess I got you all mixed up when I put them on there , I just thought they were pretty and I wanted to send them to you all,But the question was about roses Im sorry, Some of the limbs were looking so bad, maybe they will come back, they were so pretty last year. I love the color of your Hibiscus.I have one that is a little darker than yours.I love all types of Hibiscus .
Including pictures not related to the subject at hand can be very confusing. We love to see pictures of pretty flowers so anytime you have pictures of your flowers that you want to share feel free to start a topic in the Members Gallery. Cutting your roses back now might mean you won't have blooms this year, I don't know what variety you have, but it is usually best to cut back roses after they have bloomed. I have some that bloom all season long so I cut them back in about November. The limbs that are looking bad now, give them a while to see if they will come back. If they don't then you can cut them off.
I'm not sure what zone you're in but, around here, we prune rose bushes in the spring...when the forsythia is blooming is a good time to do it.
I'm with MTATHOME! But then I live in the Pacific Northwest also Someone told me to prune roses when the forsythia were blooming. Seems like a good rule of thumb Hasn't slowed down my blooms. Deanna :-D
