With that front that blew through last Thursday, Friday & Saturday, this is what I found Saturday morning: clear skies, sunshine and a little snow: My daughter's playhouse in the back yard: So the wife built this: We were back in the 70's in 2 days!
It is normal for us to have snow in Texas. The northern part of Texas gets snow every year - especially way up in the panhandle. I live on the South Plains on the expansive Llano Estacado. We are about 3,000 feet above sea level, pretty dry (semi-arid), so we do get good & cold in Winter some times. But we also have pretty warm & sunny days in Winter. I've been wearing short pants for over a month, except for the few days here & there, where it gets cold and even snows a little. Just 120 miles North of us, this storm dumped 12 inches of snow. Now, the Dallas area can get cold, but they only have a few freezes a year. San Antonio, Houston & Austin are pretty warm and it's considered cold, if it gets into the 50's or 40's. We often drop well below freezing up here in West Texas. In Summer, the whole state experiences 100 degrees plus in Summer, but in our dry climate here, it is comfortable. Dallas, Austin, Houston & San Antonio are very humid and sticky in Summer. I will take our cooler Winters over the humid Summers any day.
I'm sure that snow will melt quickly now that the sun is shining. We are still having some night frosts but the snow is over and done with.
