I noticed holes in my petunia and lily leaves this am. Have seen similar on hastas in past. This happened overnight!! What is causing this and what is the best thing to do??

See picure "Holy leaves" in Don's album.

It could be slug and snail damage Don. They tend to feed more at night. If you take a torch out when it gets dark you should be able to pick them off your plants and destroy them.

I think you are right Eileen - I just got home from work (2am here) and took a look with my light and found a few of the slimy little guys (smaller than I thought they would be). There is actually a lot on the net about dealing with this problem and I'm going to try a few things. Amazing how much damage they can do in just a couple of nights!
