I've grown this courgette plant, I thought it was goin ok. It flowered but doesn't seem to be producing any fruit, just long spindly shoots. Does anybody have any advice, it would be much appreciated Thanks Chris....... ( photo / image / picture from Chris1975's Garden )
It appears to be in a very small pot, that could have something to do with the fruit not setting. Try putting it in a larger pot and see what happens.
Thanks 'i thought that maybe the case, been meaning to repot a lot of my plants into bigger pots but at the moment have ran out of compost. Need to pull my finger out n get on top of it...... Thanks for the advice
Hi Chris, I also agree that your plant should be in a larger container...or in the full ground if possible. If you must have it in a container, why not just plonk it in a bag of soil, poke holes in the bottom and then feed and water it periodically. **A further note: my courgettes always produce a host of male flowers in the beginning and only later do they begin producing female ones. It is possible that the plant isn't ready to begin producing female blooms just yet (in combination with the small container). Good luck. That plant looks like it has real potential. Hang in there, mate.
A agree...you need a much larger pot for the plant to create a good root system in order to make the plant grow bigger. I would recommend a 5 gallon pail. Make sure it is fertilized as well.
I agree with everyone else I hope you can plant it in the ground. If not into a 5 gallon bucket.Good Luck.
