I just came in from weeding. I think I was smart to wait until after the sun went down it was a whole hell of a lot cooler LOL Even the rain felt nice on my back LOL But also wondered if it means I'm crazy to be working at night! But it's all done! All we have to do is mulch Jenn
You sound like a smart person to me.Oh I wish we could get some of that rain here in Texas. It was 104 degrees today, yesterday and maybe hotter tomorrow.
Man I don't know how you guys do it. I honeymooned in Arkansas (May 27 to June 3) before the major heat hit and I nearly wilted in it!
Here's another vote for smart, not crazy. I just came in from doing the same. It is now 87.4 F (30.8 C) and 64% humidity, so it has cooled off form 97.3 F (36.3 C). Had to get some work done because they are predicting tomorrow will be dangerously hot. I still have too many fragile seedlings for this heat. It is pleasant working at night. Even if it is so hot, at least there are no direct sun rays to cook us. That seems to make a huge difference. Plus, I don't feel as dorky when I lean over and drench my head with the hose, as no one can see me in the dark.
Gardening at 10 p.m. sounds like the sensible thing to do. I may have to do that soon, we only reached 100 today but it's going up for a few days. That's becoming the only time I will be able to get anything done out in the garden. Tonight it is still 89 at 10:30 but at least the sun is now where to be seen.
I soo agree! Hey I never thought of the hose thing. Our hose is currently attached to two sprinklers for watering our newly seeded lawn. I guess I could have turned them on while I worked! Tomorrow's weather is forecasted to be 25ºC (77ºF) with a humidex of 29ºC (84ºF) so hopefully it won't be so hot and humid we can't work. Hubby wants to finish the deck tomorrow. Jenn
Don't know how you survive the heat. I was always sick with the heat the first few days we were in Texas in the summer (until my body acclimated) as a kid. Gardening at night with the bats sounds like the only way to go. I get up early with the sun and garden around 4:30 when school is in session. It is always pleasant and a great way to start the day.
I don't think you're crazy either. I'm often found pottering about in the garden late in the evenings. We've got light nights so I can actually see very well, almost like a day with heavy clouds. There's a lot of interesting things going on in gardens at night, and the slugs are out then too.
